Automation of Purchase orders for a US-based client company
The Client
The client is an eCommerce company, based in Los Angeles, US, who provides incentive
and motivation management solutions that enable organizations to maximize the value
of the audiences vital to their success. The solutions are geared toward motivational
Sales Incentive, Corporate Incentives and Promotions, Employee Performance and Customer
Loyalty programs.
The Challenge
The company was having manual order generation and distribution system. The challenge
was to create an architecture that will automate the process of order generation
and distribution without compromising on the integrity of their own business policies.
The Solution
A Microsoft Technology based solution was developed and a 3-tier architecture was
used. The Web Frontend developed in ASP.Net, the Business logic was encapsulated
in VB.Net compiled assemblies and Database Layer consisted of MS SQL Server 2000.
The solution was built with the following features:
- A web interface to add/edit vendor profiles and preferences
- A web interface to view/approve/reject orders
- Ability to process approved orders and review status
- Generate the vendor PO in the desired format (word, excel, etc.)
- Save the PO to the file system using some well-defined nomenclature
- Email/fax the PO to the vendors based on vendor preference
- Generate appropriate order processing reports
Encodex executed the Design, Development and Testing of the entire system within
the budgets and timeframes. Encodex's flexible offshore model enabled resources
to match peaks and troughs throughout the SDLC. Encodex's Quality Practices substantially
reduced reworking and testing costs.
